Buxton – Castle Naze and Combs Edge Walk

Walking Time – 4h  – 4h 30min

Distance – 8.7mi

Total ascent  – 2026ft

This walk starts by parking near Corbar Woods in Buxton and heading out into the countryside up and over Bleak Edge and Short Edge, taking you high up then reaching Castle Naze, Not a castle there but it was a fort roughly triangular in shape, occupying approximately 0.9 hectares (2.25 acres). It was surveyed in 1957, when it was established that the fort had undergone three phases of construction, two of the Iron Age period and one Medieval.

The views from up here are stunning, Combs Reservoir is in the distance. The rocks and cliffs are stunning and it has a unique beauty in the barreness of the area.

Then along Combs Edge and Cuckoo Tor then winding back to the start.

It is a tough walk underfoot and would advise doing this walk in Summer!
