This IS one of my favourite places to viist, with it being only 15 minutes drive away and the change throughout the seasons with the varying array of plants, trees and flowers that are found here. Everytime I visit it reminds me of how great it is to live where I do.
parking is at the free car park by the side of Erwood Reservoir, from there walk along the road until you see the gate to the left which takes you down by the River Goyt which I recommend as you walk down by the river and hear the noise of the river as it weaves its way to the reservoir.
Anyway, this walk is a round walk as with most of my walks. It does have quite a steep walk up Stake Clough but it is worth it when you get to the top. Now the Cat and Fiddle has re opened I was tempted to meander down as you can see it from the top of Stake Clough..
I resisted temptation and headed back down the slope and to the car park.
