Monsal Trail – Water Cum Jolly – Millers Dale

Walking Time – 4h 20min – 5h

Distance – 10.3mi

Total ascent  – 2942ft

Took a chance on the weather for this walk, had a bit of luck and it stayed pretty clear.

Starting off parking up off the A6 from Bucton to Bakewell. crossing over the A6 and walking up towards Brushfield then dropping down towards the Monsal Trail, not joining it here but goinf under and across towards Cressbrook and Water Cum Jolly. It is the first time I have actually walked through the converted Cressbrook Mill which is now apartments.

From here walking through Millers Dale the path meanders next to the River Wye with plenty of wildlife around including Buzzards, Rainbow Trout in the River and Herons keeping an eye on the fish.

Again crossing the Monsal Trail and followed a Nature trail that took us high up to five amazing views acros the Dale.

Then dropping back down to the Trail and back along towards Monsal Head where it was time for Lunch at the top of Monsal head next to the Monsal Head Pub.

After lunch headed down into Monsal Dale and under the Monsal Dale Bridge and past the weirs and back to the car but not after stopping off at a spot where the bushes were dripping in Sloes!!

A bag full of sloes ready to make Gin and maybe Jam!
